Empowering communities to live beyond limitations

As Hope Mentorship Initiative, we know the barriers of progress within societies. And we’re geared towards solving them, including challenges affecting young children, students, young men and women, parents, teachers and other societal stakeholders through empowerment & collaboration. Our purpose is to help them discover their inherent potential for optimal utilization of self and the social good.

Our Burden

Our Initiative was formed by like-minded people residing in Murang’a County (Kenya) who were touched and moved by myriad problems affecting the young children and students in schools and out of school: idleness & unemployment, substance abuse, school drop-outs, unwanted pregnancies, unhealthy boy-girl relationships, peer influence/pressure, sexually transmitted infections and other ailments, environmental mismanagement, street urchins, orphans, lack of basic needs inter alia.

Our Mandate

The pioneer members decided to initiate this CBO (Community-Based Organization) to mobilize the young people to take a proactive role in ameliorating the aforementioned state of affairs. Hope Mentorship Initiative operates on the principle of integrated or holistic approach in tackling the myriad problems: Environment, health and other socio-economic problems and to accommodate the diverse background and interests of the people involved. The organization also recognizes the gender concerns in the society and aims at achieving social justice, equity and poverty alleviation.

Our Initiatives

We have crafted programs through a rigorous process of understanding the core needs and areas of concern across various societal setups which we believe will be transformative and contribute to the change we aspire for. They include:

  • Holistic mentorship involving learners, parents and teachers
  • Guidance and counselling for groups and individuals.
  • Capacity building for special groups, e.g. youth, women, etc.
  • Specific focus on boy-child empowerment programs.
  • Community mobilization and sensitization.
  • Sports and talent promotion.
  • Charity work.
  • Resource mobilization for program sustainability.

Our Efforts

We have made huge strides thus far. Through mentorships, empowerment seminars, collaborations, charity work, and community mobilizations across the country, our execution has been exceptional. Some of our most remarkable mentorships have been at: all Kangema Sub-county Primary Schools, Secondary schools, including: Nyakahura, Iyego, Rwathia Girls & Mixed schools, Kahuhia Mixed, Gaturi Girls, Kamahuha Sec. School, among many others. We have also established collaborations with several institutions such as Michuki Technical Training College, Gateiga Youth Polytechnic, Kiawairegi cluster men’s seminar, and many more.
